- Manassas Junction Virginia - (Catlett's Station) On the evening of August 26, after moving around Pope's right flank, Gen. "Stonewall" Jackson's forces struck the Orange & Alexandria Railroad and before daybreak August 27 marched to capture and destroy the massive Union supply depot at Manassas Junction. This surprise movement forced Pope to retreat from his defensive line along the Rappahannock River and lead to his defeat at the 2nd Battle of Manassas August 29-30, 1862. - August, 1862 ~ Today - Correct Responces: Bill Chisolm |
